Profile

     Judge Linda R. Allan was born in 1955 in Rapid City, South Dakota.  She received her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Washington University in 1975 where she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa academic society.  After receiving her J.D. degree from St. Louis University in 1978, she worked as a trial attorney for the St. Louis County Office of the Public Defender.  

      Judge Allan relocated in 1982 and, subsequent to her admission to the Florida Bar in October of that year, she was continuously engaged in the private practice of law, most recently as the managing partner of the law firm of Allan, Shipp & Deeb, P.A.  During her career, she was lead counsel in numerous trials in both state and Federal Court and held an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell. 

    For the past two years, Judge Allan has served as co-chair of the Clearwater Bar Pro Bono Committee.  She is a member of the Education Committee of the Florida Conference of Circuit Court Judges and is a frequent speaker at judicial education programs.  She is the Sixth Judicial Circuit liaison to the Florida Supreme Court Fairness and Diversity Training Program.  Judge Allan is also a member of the Florida Bar Rules of Evidence Committee.  She is a faculty member of the Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section Trial Advocacy Program and the Gerald T. Bennett Prosecutor/Public Defender Training Program.  Judge Allan is the author of several CLE and CJE manuals on a wide range of topics.

    Since being elected to the circuit bench in 2002, Judge Allan has served in both the criminal and family divisions and is currently assigned to a civil section in Clearwater.
